I've been over the top with several people that had difficulty with the ladders. If you look off to the side, it can be a little daunting seeing how high you are. If you keep your head down and focused on your hands and feet (which is what you should do) you'll be fine. Even though you are high up with the views, you are still on a ladder with "terra firma" not too far below you. I hope this helps! This is a bucket list hike that you will never forget. I've done it since I was a kid 45 years ago and it is still my favorite hike ever!

@@KayakCliff thanks! I think the biggest fear I have is feeling like I’m close to the edge of the cliffs. I’ve watched several videos and it’s hard to tell how close to the edge you really are in some areas.

You can really control how close to the edge you get. You don't have to be right on the edge. Some of the shots that I took are probably more deceiving than what it is actually like 👍

Hi Jody , thank you for asking, great question! My intent in that video was to show the 5 inch inflatable cushion that Sea Eagle sells. It was way too thick for that boat, so I omitted it from my editing. What I have used for years are the purple seat cushions. They have many different thicknesses and price levels. I have paddled with the motor down and it does tend to act as a skeg. I find it, especially useful in the downward position when I am standing up and paddle boarding.

Great question, this location depends on the tides. You need to catch it at high tide to have a chance. Worst case, you slide the bixpy out for a little bit.

@@KayakCliff does the Bixby hang down further than the scag on the fast track 385 do you know, I'm thinking of getting that for my wife and I and this trip right here is similar to some of what we what we would like to do but I think the scag and the Bixby is mainly for deeper water but is you go from deep to shallow how do you manage those

If the tide is high, you should be OK, as long as you steer into the channel that is deeper going up through there.

@kbrowniiee I think it hangs down the exact amount of the skeg. So, if you have to takeoff the skeg, normally, you would do the same with the Bixpy.

@@KayakCliff ok thank you, still trying to decide between the explorer and the fast track but leaning more towards the fast track because I don't think we will be doing any whitewater rapids mostly flat water and some streams and rivers

I was actually surprised that it paddled fairly well with the motor turned off. I think the motors aerodynamic shape helps. Bottom line, if I'm not using the motor, I'm going to slide it out and paddle without it, if I have to go any great distance.

It is always a much better experience for me and most others that I talk to. The EZLite would accommodate both you or your wife perfectly! Oh wow, thank you so much for giving them a name! Hopefully with all the rain we've had, the water levels on the Brazos will stay up all summer? I plan on getting out there again! Safe adventuring out there this summer!

@KayakCliff I actually went out there last weekend when they were flooding the river. It was super nice. I've heard that they will likely have the flow at around 300 cfs for at least the next couple of weeks. We did a trip last year at those levels, and it was one of the best trips I've ever done. I'm looking forward to doing the 40 mile trip soon!

Sea Eagle installs keel guards from the factory on the fast cat. I just got one and really like it. It folds up fine, does not roll up like the paddle ski but folds easily. You should be OK with the height and weight, I don't think it'll be a problem at all. I am 6 foot, but I have a 34 1/4 inseam, which is quite long. As long as your inseam is not drastically longer than that, you should be OK. Hopefully you got the high back seat model. Just release the straps to slide the seat back as far as it will go. If you need to go back a little bit further, you can put a carabiner on the end and then hook to the D rings. Let me know how it goes, I think it will work out 👍

@@KayakCliff Thanks Cliff! Great suggestion about adding the carabiner for a little more length! I have a 36” inseam so worst case scenario I will put a small cooler or a thicker foam roller piece against the front wall and not use the foot pegs and push against the front of the kayak wall. It should work out fine for me if you are a 34 inseam and it works for you. Yes, I got the nicer seat option. I have enjoyed many of your videos so thanks for posting so many different locations. Getting out on the water is my motivation all winter long to stay fit enough to enjoy the summer on the water. Keep making more interesting boating videos to inspire the rest of us. Thanks Cliff!

Great question! Because the EzLite has such a low profile on the sides and bow, it does wonderfully into a headwind. Even Crosswinds will be tempered when they hit the low profile, angled sides of the kayak. I would say it is as good as a sit on top can get with regards to performance into winds. Probably as good as most sit inside touring kayaks, except you, the paddler are sitting up higher. Hey 👋 Barry, I believe the easy light with the small skeg would do well and very shallow creeks. I'm going to try it myself on the Brazos river, here in Texas. I actually have high expectations of that set up. I have had the razor light out on many shallow rivers with no skeg. I actually, never use a skeg on the razor light. It performs and tracks beautifully. I actually had the razor light on a strong class one or a week class two loaded down with camping gear and did totally fine. I won't lie, it was a little sketchy, but I came through just fine. Thank you so much for your feedback! I have not had any problem with the EVA foam becoming damaged, and I have had it out three times so far. I have had the issue with it getting dirty with each use. I remedy that by cleaning it down with some soapy water when I wash the boat down at the end of the day. This tends to remove, all of the stains, however, there's always a little bit that will be there invisible. EVA foam is a very popular product used on the floors of most every inflatable paddleboard, you do wanna make sure that you have nothing on the bottom of your shoes that could skuff it. I have found it to be inherently, pretty durable, however, I do see where you could leave some marks if there is anything sharp or jagged dragged across it. EZLite 10 Sea Eagle - alnk.to/60ZT3Sz

Hi Bob, when I'm kayaking and needing to anchor, I just have the anchor line tied to a carabiner that I just clip to the front or rear grab handle. Being seated in the middle of the kayak, it is actually easy to retrieve the anchor, if you just do a couple paddle strokes forward or backward, then grab the rope as it comes alongside the kayak and pull up the anchor. Very easy and very low tech, I love it!

Hi there, great question! The EVA foam on the inside of the kayak, does not absorb water. When you are finished with the kayak, if you completely towel dry it off, then unroll it at home, it will dry overnight with your air conditioning running. Hi, definitely the 393 RL razor light! It has the speed and it has plenty of storage. I have done several camping trips out of it with no problem! Not a lot of storage in the EZLite. A lot of people prefer the inflatable seat, try it out first. I like the other high back seat. Sea Eagle has wonderful customer service, call them and perhaps there is something they can do to help you.

I would say that's an accurate analysis! I do plan sometime this summer to do a comparison speed test between both of them. Then we will know! Bottom line it is a fast kayak.
